November 3-24 Saturn squares Uranus Saturn in Taurus is in challenging relationship with Uranus in Aquarius from November 3-24. This is the same energy as the August 11 eclipse, when we had four planets creating a grand cross in the sky. With Saturn/Uranus, there is competition between progressive (Uranus) and conservative (Saturn) energies. Saturn wants to honor the tried and true, even if that involves being too conservative and safe. Uranus asks us to be on the cutting edge of change and growth.
The challenge with this aspect is to honor both sides of the square. Politically, for instance, this could represent the emergence of new candidates or parties that are fiscally conservative and socially progressive. Individually, we are being asked to stretch our comfort zone of safety so that we let go of resistance to change.
November 4 Mercury goes retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius will go retrograde from November 4 through November 24. Many people experience Mercury going retrograde as a time when communication breaks down to the point that they wont do or sign anything. The superstition is that Mercury retrograde is a time to "lay low" and hold any business or communications that have to be done until Mercury goes direct again. In other words, for many people there is ample evidence to substantiate that Mercury retrogrades foul things up! I, too could tell you stories of un-returned phone calls, mail not being delivered, etc. It can begin to look like Mercury retrogrades do happen to us! With Mars/Saturn, we can focus our willpower The opportunity during a Mercury retrograde, however, is to understand how the outer circumstances of our lives are challenging us to internalize our experience; to deepen our understanding of our own nature so that we can achieve mastery in our lives. Mercury retrogrades help us to see, through external events, at what level our Mercury function (or throat chakra) is operating. If our communication skills are lacking in any area, this will be more than apparent when Mercury goes retrograde. Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius can help us get in touch with our vision so that we can clearly articulate what we want. Use the retrograde period to develop newfound clarity in your thoughts so that they will manifest in external form in the world. November 7 New moon in Scorpio A new moon occurs when the sun and moon are in the same sign, and signifies the joining of solar and lunar energies. With each new moon, we have an opportunity for a new quality to emerge into our consciousness. With the new moon in Scorpio, the focus this month is on letting go; trusting that it is safe to let go of old ways of being that may have prevented us from deeply sharing ourselves, our vision, and our wisdom more fully with others. With the new moon in Scorpio, we have an opportunity to learn how to speak our truth more fully and to learn how to truly honor the deep passion and intensity of our emotions. November 8 Venus enters Libra Venus, known as Aphrodite in the Greek tradition, is very much at home in the sign representing balance, harmony, and beauty. Venus is the goddess who brings the power of the Divine Mother (the moon) into physical manifestation. She is one of the primary archetypes of the creative feminine energy. When Venus occupies Libra, we have an opportunity to express our creativity and passion through manifesting beauty and harmony in our world. This is a wonderful time to reconnect to the feminine through art, music, dance, or design. It is also a time for communing with the harmonious vibrations of the natural world. November 9 Mercury retrograde in Scorpio Mercury will retrograde back into the sign of Scorpio on November 9 and wont go back into Sagittarius until December 11. With Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, it is a perfect time to dredge up what one psychologist calls "stinking thinking." Use this time to become aware of what negative things you are saying to yourself on a subconscious level. Since awareness is the first step in dis-identification, try to observe your inner dialogue in a nonjudgmental way. As you become aware of your negative self-talk, you begin to see it as having no more weight than any other thought passing through your mind. November 9-21 Venus in Libra aspects Neptune, Chiron, Pluto, and Uranus Venus in Libra trines Neptune November 9-11, sextiles Chiron November 13-15, sextiles Pluto November 16-18, and trines Uranus November 20-21. With Venus in Libra, there is strong energy supporting peace and reconciliation. When you bring in the influences of the outer planets Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto there is hope for mediation and peacemaking wherever conflict is happening on the planet. With the transpersonal planets involved, there is a possibility that a peace can be brokered that transcends the needs of individual egos or nation-states, and that offers the highest solution for the good of all concerned. It is an especially powerful time to affirm that healing can come through the power of love. November 22 Sun enters Sagittarius The sun enters the sign of Sagittarius on November 22 at 11:25 a.m. After the decay and transformation achieved in Scorpio, the natural world is now teeming with new life; earthworms are breaking down the decayed material and replenishing the soil with new energy. The earth is expanding the simple materials left over into complex nutrients needed for new life. We have an opportunity to express our creativity and passion The Sagittarius principle expands the concrete mind (knowledge) by demonstrating how meaning is created through the understanding of diversity (wisdom). Our job during the sign of Sagittarius is to codify our philosophical and religious understanding to become role models and non-dogmatic teachers of universal wisdom. November 22 Full moon in Gemini
and achieve highly productive results.
through manifesting beauty and harmony in our world.
November 25 Mars enters Aquarius Mars journeys through the sign of Aquarius form November 25 through January 4, 2000. With Mars in Aquarius, the challenge is to focus our will toward greater self- actualization. This may mean looking at any ways that we have been stuck in expressing our willpower or asserting ourselves with others. Mars in Aquarius calls us to break free of any restrictions that keep us from manifesting greater authenticity in our lives. Use the time that Mars is in Aquarius to break through old patterns of making yourself small so that no one will notice.
November 27-30 Mars conjuncts Neptune Mars in Aquarius will be at the same degree as Neptune in Aquarius from November 27-30. Mars/Neptune aspects speak of aligning personal will (Mars) with divine will (Neptune). These are the penultimate aspects of letting go or surrendering our personal will so that we can be guided by spirit.
As both Mars and Neptune are in the sign of Aquarius, we can only hope that this will result in an increase in humanitarian aid to those nations that have suffered so much devastation and atrocities over the past several years. Mars/Neptune in Aquarius is a clarion call for humanitarian action and compassion. Please join me this Thanksgiving in sending out a global prayer for lasting peace, reconciliation, and compassionate, humanitarian aid for all those that are suffering.
