James Conti talks with Drunvalo Melchizedek, Sedona’s out-of-this-world emissary of ancient wisdom and hope.
— Drunvalo Melchizedek Confession is good for the soul, so let me begin this article by confessing to the skeptical slant with which I approached it. As a senior life member of the Left-Brain Analytical Order of Male Anal Retentives, I am always ready to challenge as a kook or a sham the self-anointed prophet. In view of the track record of most of these so-called seers, I tend to give them about as much credence as reports of Elvis sightings. But Drunvalo Melchizedek disarmed me. I could spot no evidence of ego is his demeanor, no hint of a personal agenda. Drunvalo, to his credit, translates the most incredible notions into an everyday context that, even for one such as I, renders them safe to consider and almost natural to accept. Nonetheless, given that his work is paranormal in nature, I could not responsibly make the leap to endorsing it on its face. I knew, also, that aside from his faithful constituents, most readers were sure to be more like me: fascinated but wary. That being said, a brief introduction is in order. Drunvalo Melchizedek is downright amazing. Or should I say outrageous? His mind, and its stunning output, ranges across a seeming infinitude of subjects and possibilities. Among his avowed mentors are angels and ancient Atlanteans, not to mention in-the-body mystics, masters, and medicine men from over seventy cultures and religious beliefs. In his books and public teachings, he draws from the sacred, the psychic, the supernatural, and the scientific with equal facility and force. Drunvalo’s vision of the universe centers on a primary geometric design: The Flower of Life. It occurs, he asserts, in all forms of existence from subatomic to stellar, thus revealing the oneness of life in its myriad manifestations. Drunvalo points to this all-inclusive "message" as the cornerstone of his probe into such provocative mysteries as how we came to be, why things are as they are, and what it all means. We spoke on Saturday, April 10, 1999. James: Your life has been an extraordinary adventure, steeped in experience that exceeds the normal course of human events. Surely you feel a sense of mission about it. Can you describe what the mission is? Drunvalo: The mission is a simple one. I knew of it long before I came into this world. First, I am here to reveal to people how to turn on the Mer Ka Ba. This, for those who don’t know, is the light body that each of us possesses. The trouble is, we’ve forgotten how to rekindle it. We lost this ability at the fall of Atlantis, about 13,000 years ago, and it’s crucial that we recover it in order to advance spiritually. A second part of the mission has to do with showing how life interacts at every level — without separation, that is. And third, I am here to witness what happens here on Earth during this unusual time. James: Is the Mer Ka Ba like the astral body? Drunvalo: No, not at all. The astral body sits on the lower levels of the fourth dimension. The Mer Ka Ba emanates from all levels of existence. At present, however, it is only a potential. The Mer Ka Ba consists of energy fields that surround the physical being. When fully activated, these fields spin at nearly the speed of light, endowing us with enormously expanded awareness, restoring us to the realization of our limitless capabilities. James: How do you know this? Drunvalo: It’s easier to explain why others do not know this. People do not recognize that we all exist in many places at once, that we all have parallel lives, at different levels of consciousness. Yet there is only one, true reality. Pure and simple, it is what it is: the reality of oneness. What we see, though real to us, just is not true. The Hindus call this maya, which means illusion. We think we are that which inhabits the body, and that that which is outside the body is something else. This illusion resulted because of a change we made in the way we take in prana (the breath of life). We used to receive it through the pineal gland, which opens to the crown chakra, or Christ Consciousness, at the top of the head. Prana received in this way, in its pure state, reveals the absolute unity of all that is. But again, after we fell, this manner of breathing was erased from common memory, and we began taking prana in through our mouths. The effect is polarity consciousness. That’s why ascended masters, throughout our history, have had to come to our aid. Their purpose has been to guide people back into balance, back to the ways of realizing our oneness. James: Your observations of outer space include some dramatic suggestions. One in particular seems all-encompassing. You suggest that stars, even galaxies, are actual living entities. Taking this hypothesis to its ultimate horizon, we arrive at the notion of the universe itself behaving as "a giant living Mer Ka Ba field." The implication, if I read it correctly, is that man and the total of outer space, namely God, are indivisibly joined. Is that an accurate image? Drunvalo: Yes. The geometric pattern, revealed in the human light body field, is the same not only for every one on the planet, but also for the planet itself, for the stars and galactic clusters. There is no separation. Science is just now coming to this point of clarity as well. James: The calmness in your voice makes this whole conversation seem almost ordinary. Clearly, these questions and answers are like a daily staple for you. But let me ask, are you in possession of knowledge that exceeds our present capacity to receive? Drunvalo: I’m just a little ahead of everyone else. My purpose in coming to Earth is merely to be an example of what can be understood and gained. Information comes to me as I need it. The situation here is so unusual, it’s hard to anticipate what will be next. I have spent a lot of time with ascended masters, and they can barely keep up with what’s going on! People think they know it all, but they, too, are receiving information from higher yet. There has never been a situation like this. No one can tell for sure how it’s going to unfold. But here’s a very important piece of news. Many of the ascended masters have just returned. They came back early this year, through the Egyptian window, bringing new knowledge. What you are going to see, starting right about now, is the channeling of information never ever even conceived of before! I’ve talked with a couple of psychics who say their communications are beginning to change. They don’t understand what it means yet. But I know that soon you’ll be hearing ideas and concepts that are absolutely unique in the history of humankind. James: Speaking of history, your book (The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life) presents what is not exactly the public-schools version. Civilizations from beyond the earth, as you note in detail, have had a pivotal role in our evolution. And always, it seems, the forces of light have had to battle the dark. Is this inevitable? Drunvalo: Again, it’s a matter of how the battle is perceived. We see conflict because of our polarized vision. Those of higher consciousness see only the balancing of energies. Remember: there is only one God, not two. God created Michael. God also created Lucifer. The exchange between them is not what you think. God is not looking to trap us. The conflict and pain we experience here is caused by our misperception of how things really are. The good news is, this is about to change. James: Does this have to do with the "new children" phenomenon that you’ve been exploring lately? Drunvalo: That’s part of it, yes. And more. There are four phenomena moving through the world, and they’re all interconnected. The first is the appearance of ETs and UFOs, which began about 52 years ago. Prior to 1947, reports of sightings were virtually nonexistent. Yet by July 1952, the number of sightings reported was over 44,000! And these events continue. Then, about 25 years ago, another phenomenon appeared, known as crop circles. This involves the tendency of certain random crops, usually corn or wheat, to grow in perfect geometric patterns. Mind you, these are untouched by human hands. I’ve seen them where they are woven into five layers of braid. Some of these circles are six hundred feet across. James: What are these crop circles telling us? Drunvalo: Not even our greatest mathematicians are able to figure this out. We can only say for sure that a very high source is using them to channel information. Nothing we are currently aware of could possibly do this. A third phenomenon is the "Bible Code." It concerns a secret book, which is coded into the Torah. There has been speculation for centuries that it exists, and it does. That book has now been opened, and the revelations it contains are astounding. Fourth is what is being called the "new children" phenomenon. The story begins in 1979 in China, where a child was observed with incredible psychic powers. Then more and more were discovered. Omni magazine was invited to study these children, and test after test was conducted. In one of these tests, pages were torn out of books, crumpled up, and then placed under their arms. The children could read these pages without an error! Omni wrote about this in January 1985. Since then, these sorts of psychic children have been found all over the world. A recent estimate puts their number at sixty million. James: On page 130 of your book, you comment that we, in this lifetime, may be experiencing our last incarnation on Earth. How so? Drunvalo: That’s a personal belief. It’s based on what I was told by the angels long, long ago. By and large, those who are dying now are leaving this cycle, and the babies being born are not reincarnated spirits that have been here before. They are spirits from very high levels of existence, who are coming here purely out of love to help us move on. James: Our exit, then, as you foresee it, will be a positive transition as opposed to a cataclysmic event? Drunvalo: Yes, I think so. But I cannot say that chaos will not be a part of it. The key is to stay centered and remember God is in everything. If our thoughts are not so fearful, we can reduce the amount of chaos dramatically. I was recently in the Yucatan with Edgar Mitchell, the astronaut, and he was relating how the National Aeronautics and Space Administration is at the point of a revelation. They have learned more in the last five years, he said, than we, as a civilization, have learned in recorded time. And more in the last six months than in the last five years! And that was six months ago! Until now, a "unified field theory" has remained elusive. But according to Mitchell, NASA has finally nailed it. They now have evidence that everything — a person, a tree, a rock, or a beer can — is alive. And conscious. And evolving. The dream we are dreaming is about to change. I’m very hopeful.
