February 12 Mercury in Pisces Our job when planets are journeying through the sign of Pisces is to learn the value of surrender and to open our consciousness so that we can transcend our perception of separateness. With Mercury in Pisces from February 12 until March 2, we have an opportunity to communicate our understanding of these principles to others. Having learned the lessons that transiting Saturn in Aries has taught us over the last two and a half years — walking our talk, taking a stand for ourselves, creating distinct boundaries — we can then flow more gracefully with the Piscean energies without fear of losing ourselves through unconscious merging with others.
Creating a sense of distinct personal boundaries is often one of the greatest challenges for those that have been very open emotionally and intuitively from an early age. Oftentimes, the intuitive sees his or her gifts as a liability rather than an asset. The hidden blessing from the soul perspective, though, is that the intuitive/feeler personality has had great training in merging or transcending self. If we can reframe these abilities in a spiritual context this month (i.e. the "urge to merge" with Spirit), then the highest manifestation of Pisces energies; the desire for unity consciousness can emerge.

February 12 Jupiter enters Aries
Jupiter takes 12 years to orbit around the sun, so Jupiter’s one-year transit through the sign of Aries marks a brand new 12-year cycle of growth and expansion. With Jupiter in Aries, the focus is on personal empowerment and initiation. Jupiter in Aries gives us the courage and determination to take on new challenges that may have seemed overwhelming in the past. Jupiter in Aries represents the pioneering spirit; the desire to forge ahead and be an innovator in one’s chosen field. Use Jupiter in Aries to improve yourself through confident and self-assertive activity.
February 15 New moon in Aquarius and solar eclipse The new moon at 27 degrees Aquarius at 10:40 p.m. brings in a new cycle of growth and awareness this month. This is intensified by the annular eclipse of the sun at 10:33 p.m. Although the eclipse will only be seen in southern latitudes, its effect can be felt for months by those who are sensitive to the cycles of the moon. Relationships, in particular, will be affected by this event, as the moon represents what we need for emotional security.
The new moon and eclipse in Aquarius calls us to learn emotional detachment. The challenge is to be able to detach from our relationship dramas without abandoning our partner. In other words, the challenge is to learn how to maintain our own sense of personal autonomy while being emotionally present to the needs and desires of others.
February 18 Sun enters Pisces The sun enters the sign of Pisces on February 18 at 6:47 p.m. It is in the final stage of nature's cycle during the sign of Pisces that the composting soil is becoming ready for spring planting. The breaking-up process that has taken place in Aquarius is taken to its logical conclusion in the complete destruction of form, blending into the whole. The Pisces principle involves surrendering the personal sense of "I" to allow for integration into the whole.
February 21-March 3 Jupiter sextiles Neptune Jupiter in Aries sextiles Neptune in Aquarius from February 21 through March 3. This is an excellent time for visualizing your ideals for the New Year. Both Jupiter and Neptune help us to tune in to expanded states of consciousness. Any kind of creative visualization, imagery, or meditative processes that you do at this time will really help you to tune in to your highest ideals for the year. Try using your favorite oracle (tarot, runes, I Ching) or even something like the Transformation Game during this time to get further clarity about what’s next for you this year.
February 21 Venus enters Aries Venus moves into the sign of Aries on February 21 and is at the same degree of Aries as Jupiter February 22-24. This is passion city time! Take a look at how passion figures into your life during this transit. What do you get passionate about? The positive pole of passion is self-actualization, heightened awareness, and being intensely alive. What can you do now that increases your sense of aliveness?
Needless to say, this is a great time to renew the passion in your relationships, too! With Venus conjunct Jupiter in Aries, it is a time to find out what you value or are passionate about. February 28 Saturn re-enters Taurus
Saturn, which has been retrograde in Aries since October, resumes its two and a half-year journey through the sign of Taurus on February 28 and will be there until August 2000. When Saturn, the planet representing form, structure, and consolidation, is combined with the sign Taurus, ruled by the planet Venus, the principle is the constructive formulation of values. Saturn is associated with the first chakra, your rootedness, your ability to take a stand and manifest your dreams. Venus is associated with the fourth chakra, what you are passionate about and value.
Saturn’s two and a half-year transit through Aries was a time for initiating new action in our lives that provided a structure for the accomplishment of our long-term goals. Saturn in Aries asked us to walk our talk, to be accountable for our actions, and to take a stand for what we want to manifest.
