By adding the universal year 1998 (1+9+9+8 =27) to the 12th month of December, we come up with the vibration of 39/12/3. The 39/3 month is a time for tapping into the joy of the divine child. It is the inherent qualities of the divine child radiance, honesty, creativity, beauty, joy, and enthusiasm that want to come out this month. Take some time to play and have fun even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the season.
On a deeper level, the 39/3 month is a time for experiencing the awe and mystery of our own divine child. I remember four Christmases ago, when my son was just three months old; I played Joseph to his baby Jesus in a live manger scene on Whidbey Island. Ill never forget how reverent and in awe people were as they paid their respects and sang praise to the newborn child. It is in remembering our own inner divinity this month that we receive the greatest gift!
December 1-2 and 20-22 Mercury conjunct Pluto Mercury in Sagittarius is at the same degree as Pluto in Sagittarius December 1-2 and again December 20-22. Mercury/Pluto combines the universal power of Pluto with the communication function of Mercury. With both planets in Sagittarius, the focus is on speaking out powerfully about what we see as the truth.
The challenge of this conjunction is to do so without being attached to being right or making others wrong. As we practice speaking our truth to others, we create a new sense of the power of our word. Since it is through communication that we create our own reality, it behooves us to learn to speak with clarity, purpose, and power. Use this conjunction to speak the truth that youve been withholding. If you do this with love and non-attachment to the results, "the truth will set you free."
December 3 Full moon in Gemini The full moon in Gemini on December 3 at 7:20 a.m. presents the opportunity this month of nurturing ourselves through connecting with others for the purpose of giving and receiving information. Its a great time to take a class, read up about a subject that broadens your knowledge base, or just get together with friends for stimulating conversation.
With the full moon in Gemini, the challenge is to expand our personal network of friends and associates so that we can grow intellectually. Oftentimes we forget about our need for intellectual stimulation, so use this full moon to nurture yourself in this area of your life.
December 10 Mercury direct Mercury, which has been retrograde since November 21, goes direct on December 10. Mercurys retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius has helped us to get in touch with our vision so that we can clearly articulate what we want. Now that Mercury has gone direct again, we can take our newfound clarity and communicate it with others, thereby causing our thoughts to manifest in external form in the world.
December 11 Venus enters Capricorn Venus journeys through the sign of Capricorn this month from December 11-January 4, 1999. Venus is the planet that is associated with the heart chakra: what has heart for us, what we are passionate about, or what we value. When it is in the sign of Capricorn, we feel the effect of Capricorns ruling planet, Saturn, as well. Saturn represents the principle of manifestation or our ability to ground ourselves in the physical world.
With Venus in Capricorn, we tend to be more pragmatic or realistic about what we can accomplish. This is a great time to look at how we can ground our financial position (Venus) by increasing our assets and streamlining (Saturn) our liabilities. Use Venus in Capricorn to come up with a solid plan for saving money or paying off accumulated debt. It also a great time to review your spending habits to see if you are "putting your money where your heart is." You might want to take a look at the book Your Money or Your Life for a few good ideas.
December 18 New moon in Sagittarius With all of the Capricorn energy of accomplishment and mastery this month, it is important to remember to balance it with the Sagittarian desire for fun! The new moon is in Sagittarius on December 18 at 2:42 p.m., bringing a sense of renewed enthusiasm and spirited adventure, so that should help!
December 21 Sun enters Capricorn The sun goes into the sign of Capricorn on December 21. At the winter solstice, little in nature is left above ground and all living things have to consolidate and preserve their energies in order to survive the cold of winter. At this time of shorter days and ever-increasing light, the earth patiently endures, waiting for new forms to manifest.
The Capricorn principle demonstrates how self-reliance and consolidation of power and authority lead to mastery. Our job in the sign of Capricorn is to be positive role models who demonstrate mastery of accomplishment and right use of power and authority.
December 22-24 Mercury sextile Uranus Mercury in Sagittarius will be in positive relationship with Uranus in Aquarius December 22-24 (sextile) and challenging relationship with Jupiter in Pisces (square) December 31-January 2. Both Mercury/Uranus and Mercury/Jupiter expand the mind and stimulate the perceptive and intuitive qualities of the mind. Take note, literally, of what you are thinking about during these transits, because you may very well come up with new and innovative solutions to longstanding issues.
December 29 Saturn goes direct Saturn, which has been retrograde since August 15, goes direct on December 29 at 26 degrees Aries. Saturns two and a half-year transit through Aries has been a time for us to initiate new actions in our lives that will provide a structure for the accomplishment of our long-term goals. Now that Saturn is no longer retrograde, and will soon be moving into the sign of Taurus, try to get in touch with the specific, measurable results that would have to be produced in order for you to know that you have reached your goals.
January 7 Chiron enters Sagittarius The year wouldnt be complete without mentioning Chirons upcoming shift from Scorpio into Sagittarius on January 7, 1999. Chiron, which is often described as a comet or planetoid, was discovered in 1977, orbiting between the planets Saturn and Uranus. Thematically, Chiron seems to embody principles that include both of its neighboring planets: the awareness-producing aspect of Uranus and the ability to materialize, or bring that awareness into form, of Saturn.
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur, those half-human, half-horse characters we see representing the sign Sagittarius. Although the centaurs as a whole were pretty much carousers and "party animals," so to speak, Chiron was a great teacher, holistic healer, astrologer, and musician.
Chiron is called "the wounded healer" because of a wound he received from a poison arrow. Being immortal, Chiron didn't die as a result of his wound, but could never quite recover and was destined to live in pain. This theme of personal suffering, and what awareness and meaning we can derive from it, becomes the central theme of the myth and the planet Chiron.
With Chiron in Scorpio for the last two years, we have had an opportunity to heal our Scorpio wounds. This means honestly looking at issues around sexuality, power, control, the right use of will, emotional intensity and honesty, and transformation through the death/rebirth process. In this light, we can reframe our presidents current problems as being extremely Chironic in nature.
Chiron in Scorpio has called us to re-own and integrate all of our powerful energies that may have been repressed or not honored as we were growing up. More than just "taking back our power," Chiron in Scorpio gives us the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with our fundamental life force in a very real way. President Clinton, through his own Chiron wounding, has helped catalyze a nation into speaking about and healing what has been repressed.
Chiron in Scorpio has revealed the shadow side of human nature and allowed us the opportunity to re-own our "dark" side instead of projecting it onto others. This process of purification leads to the next step of our evolution: opening to the integration of personal power and integrity (Chiron in Scorpio) with inherent wisdom and truth (Chiron in Sagittarius). Having done our shadow work, Chiron in Sagittarius (1999-2001) will bring us an incredible opportunity to powerfully manifest universal truth and wisdom on Earth.
