StarWatch by James Jarvis, M.A. Dear StarWatch Readers,
I am so grateful for the opportunity of meeting and working with so many incredible souls during my 7 years in the Seattle area. I look forward to reconnecting with many of you on my quarterly visits. Blessings! By adding the universal year 1998 (1+9+9+8 =27) to the 9th month of September, we come up with the vibration of 36/9. The 36/9 month is a time to complete outstanding projects so that you can free up extra energy to devote to your inner life. Take some time to find out what gives you joy (3) and what you need to do to put your life into greater balance (6). As you take time to nurture the nurturer, you can dedicate yourself without reservation to serving others with your compassion and devotion. September 6 Venus enters Virgo Venus moves into the sign of Virgo September 6 and stays there through September 30. Virgo is a sign that is often misunderstood in our culture due to various misinterpretations of its fundamental purpose over the centuries. The images that we have of Virgo, particularly Venus in Virgo, are the spinster, the chaste woman, and the celibate. In other words, Virgo has not been seen as a particularly sexy sign! Usually Virgos have been described in astrological texts as people that have a tendency to repress their sexual energies. If we go back to Greek mythology, though, we find the sign Virgo represented by the vestal virgins, the sacred priestesses that tended the eternal flame in the temples. They were known as virgins not because they were asexual, but because they remained unmarried and belonged to no man and were whole and complete unto themselves. The vestal virgins were also sacred prostitutes, giving themselves to men returning from war, for instance, so that the men could reintegrate the Goddess, or feminine, energy and then return as balanced individuals into the community. The vestal virgins also knew the secrets of how to awaken the kundalini energies within the body and were knowledgeable about Indian yogic practices such as tantra. Far from being chaste, the virgins practiced the high art of sexual devotion and were masters at transforming sexual energy for the purposes of enlightenment. When Venus is in Virgo, all of us have the opportunity to look at how we are manifesting our sexual energy. Are we repressing it, denying our own needs? Are we in touch with the desire to make the sexual act part of our spiritual path and not separate from it? I have found this to be a huge issue with many of my clients; it is often expressed as, "If I cant integrate the sacred into my sexuality, then why bother?" It seems that many people are just not willing to separate their sexuality from their spirituality anymore. This is reflected in the growing interest in tantric practices and other forms of sacred sexuality. September 6 Full moon in Pisces On September 6, we not only have a full moon in Pisces at 4:22 a.m. but a partial eclipse of the moon as well. Moon in Pisces asks us to tune in to our desire to merge with spirit. The full moon and the partial eclipse in Pisces is calling us to bring full awareness to the path of surrendering our sense of separation so that we can once again experience the bliss of unity consciousness. Use this full moon to nurture yourself spiritually through contemplation, meditation, flowing movement, and music. September 9-10 Mercury trine Saturn With Mercury in Virgo in a positive trine relationship with Saturn in Taurus, we have an opportunity to align our ideas with a definite plan of action. What is the form or specific plan that I can begin implementing that would really contribute to my overall sense of mental well-being? Mercury trine Saturn is a great time for taking on any project wherein you need to focus the mind on specific details. September 20 New moon in Virgo With the new moon in Virgo, our awareness is focused on taking care of ourselves on an emotional level. Use this month to find out what your body needs to support your emotional health. Maybe it needs more exercise, better nutrition, or more attention paid to your diet. The new moon in Virgo helps us to tune in to how we can nurture the relationship between body and mind. September 22 Sun enters Libra The sun moves into Libra on September 22, the day of the autumnal equinox. The autumnal equinox marks the beginning of fall, which initiates a new balance in nature. The falling of leaves begins the formation of fresh humus, which will eventually replenish the soil depleted by the year's growth. The Libra principle is associated with balance, equanimity, justice, and mediation. Our job in the sign of Libra is to be peacemakers; to promote a social consciousness that is just to all and to reflect and mirror to others the balance and beauty, the light and dark, of relationship. September 23-27 Mercury aspects Uranus, Neptune, Pluto Mercury trines Neptune from September 23-24, trines Uranus September 28-29, and then sextiles Pluto September 26-27. With all three outer planets aspecting Mercury, the ruler of all areas of communication, we can expect major breakthroughs in our thinking process at this time. Neptune and Uranus both activate our ability to access higher intuitive states, so by being receptive at this time, you might receive guidance that can be quite illuminating. Pluto helps us to be able to take action on our guidance as Mercury/Pluto aspects are all about speaking our truth powerfully and with conviction. September 24 Mercury enters Libra With Mercury in Libra until October 12, the emphasis is on coming into balance through pulling on our mental qualities of objectivity and equality. Although the sign of Libra is often depicted as somewhat "wishy-washy," the truth is that Libran energy can be quite strong. Mercury in Libra, in particular, is the champion of justice and can be quite bold and outspoken when things become unjust. While Mercury is in Libra, we become the adjudicators or arbitrators of justice in our lives, speaking out against any injustice that is pulling us out of balance. This is particularly relevant to personal relationships. Have you gotten out of balance by being overly centered on someone elses needs to the extent that you have lost track of what you need for yourself? Do you find that you are giving to others way more than you are receiving? If so, you can use this time to work on creating more egalitarian and just relationships in your life. September 30 Venus enters Libra Venus, known as Aphrodite in the Greek tradition, moves into Libra, the sign representing balance, harmony, and beauty, from September 30 through October 24. Venus is the Goddess who brings the power of the Divine Mother (the moon) into physical manifestation. She is one of the primary archetypes of the creative feminine energy. When Venus occupies Libra, we have an opportunity to express our creativity and passion through manifesting beauty and harmony in our world. This is a wonderful time to reconnect to the feminine through art, music, dance, or design. It is also a time for communing with the harmonious vibrations of the natural world. As Deepak Chopra says, "In the ecstasy of my own silence, and by communing with nature, I will enjoy the life throb of ages, the field of pure potentiality and unbounded creativity."
