To the Point

by Jo Chávez

It's simple: Life is not about technique or formula. It's not about "getting it right" or clearing blocks and it certainly is not about being a better person. You can't find out how to "do" yours through book-reading, nor will you become enlightened or whole through a seven-, ten-, 12-, or even 15-step process.

Life is creation and creation is the master of experiences — what might be termed good and bad experiences — the whole gamut! Creation's job is to create; so every day, every moment, you are experiencing creation and life in its utmost finery. Some feels good, some feels not-so-good, and all of the experiences are truly amazing.

You sit and meditate or visualize for a better life or world and miss the existing perfection of the moment. You miss the profound power and sweetness of life with its sorrows, pains, joys, fears, losses, and loves. There is so much more to be gained through an honest relationship to the moment and what is on your plate than through hightailing it out of the discomfort zone, trying to fix that which really needs to be experienced.

I know that you get tired of reading books for answers, of trying so hard. I know you get tired of circling around the same problems. Let me tell you that the exhaustion and frustration that comes from struggle and constant effort is not necessary, and besides that, all of the hard work you've done in the name of self-improvement is fairly useless. You're probably pretty much the same person you were when you started; certainly more discerning and awake, and hopefully more curious, but in the nuts and bolts of who you know yourself to be, you remain who you are.

Yikes! So what about all of those nagging problems in your life: the health, the money, the relationships, the career — all of those things that you want to change or fix? What about them?

Can you include rather than exclude them in your life? Can you embrace all that life offers up to you and know the beauty and preciousness of every experience and event, of every person and emotion, of every high and low? Can you "do" life simply and clearly? Can you love yourself that much?

Think on this: Every grip that you release on the throat of life gives new breath. Every fall that you allow yourself to take presents a different perspective. Every time you say "yes" to all of life and are carried by the flow of creation, you are brought closer to your essence and to peace.

Life is not about technique or formula. There is no way you can do it wrong. There is no one way better than another. Nobody, no action, no path, no experience, no direction is more appropriate than another. There is nothing to fix. There is nothing to change. There is really nothing to do. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. What a relief!
