StarWatch by James Jarvis, M.A. By adding the universal year 1998 (1+9+9+8 =27) to the 8th month of August, we come up with the vibration of 35/8. The 35/8 month represents an opportunity to achieve greater mastery in our lives. By bringing forth our creativity (3) and combining that with enhanced perception (5), we can come up with innovative ideas and solutions that will help us to manifest our goals. Its a great month for taking a look at your goals and brainstorming new possibilities for accomplishing them that you might not have thought of before. Try to suspend the critic, the cynic, and the skeptic and move into new, uncharted territory. There is a great opportunity for openhearted sharing and vulnerability. August 2-6 Venus conjunct Mars Venus in Cancer conjuncts (the same degree) Mars in Cancer August 2-6 and then trines (flowing aspect) Jupiter August 9-11 and opposes Neptune August 12-14. These are wonderful transits for sharing love and experiencing expansion of the heart energies. Take time to appreciate the loved ones in your life. Let your heart lead and show you what to do and say. There is a great opportunity for openhearted sharing and vulnerability. Its not too bad for romance either!August 7 Full moon in Aquarius The moon is full at 15 degrees Aquarius on August 7 at 7:10 p.m. For this next month, the emphasis is on learning how to detach emotionally in a positive way. The moon in Aquarius calls us to learn how we can be emotionally present to others while maintaining our individuality and our own center. August 13 Venus enters Leo Venus moves through the sign of Leo until September 6, trines (flowing relationship) Pluto August 16-18, and opposes (180 degrees) Uranus August 20-22. This can be a time of major heart opening as both Pluto and Uranus have a very transforming influence on Venus. The Venus/Pluto trine brings out our passion and desire to speak from our hearts. Venus in Leo calls us to return to the innocence of the child within, to allow the spontaneous outpouring of love to emanate from the heart chakra. With the Venus/Uranus opposition we have an opportunity to liberate our hearts, to break free from inhibitions or beliefs that have kept our hearts from being fully opened in the past. August 15 Pluto retrograde Pluto, which has been moving in retrograde motion since March 11, will go direct again on August 15 at five degrees Sagittarius. Since Pluto in our birth chart represents where we tap into collective power or will, Pluto retrogrades are a time when we can reflect on how we are using our personal power. Do powerful people make you uncomfortable? Do you react strongly to any perceived misuse of power from those in your life? Do you often see in others a tendency to manipulate or control? If so, then the Pluto retrograde period may have been a time when you were looking at how you may be feeling disempowered in your life. Conversely, it may have been a time that you discovered and integrated how you could increase your sense of personal power into more areas of your life. In particular, Pluto in Sagittarius is asking each of us to speak our own truth more powerfully. This is especially so for those born in early degrees of Sagittarius as Pluto will be conjoining (the same degree as) their sun this year or next. Pluto transits to the sun bring to the surface whatever we have repressed or hidden. If you have been hiding your light under the bushel and not sharing your truth (you know who you are!), then Pluto says "Lets blow apart whatever is preventing you from sharing your light and truth with others!" Use the power of Pluto in Sagittarius Pluto in Sagittarius is calling all Sagittarians and those who identify themselves with the archetypal role of the sage to come forward with their wisdom. Pluto in Sagittarius combines the power of collective will with the quest or search for truth and meaning. It is time for all our sages who have been hiding out this lifetime to purify and remove the negative thought forms that prevent them from sharing their gifts of lifetimes of accumulated wisdom. One the most disempowering negative thought forms for many sages is the instinctual memory of being persecuted lifetime after lifetime for telling the truth. As a result, many sages choose to lead quieter lives of seclusion to protect themselves from being stifled or worse. By purifying these instinctual memories through past life regression, soul retrieval, or energy work (removing implants, in particular), these blocks to expression and communication of their spiritual wisdom can be removed. Use the power of Pluto in Sagittarius to blow off the lid of repression and inhibition now! August 15 Saturn retrograde Saturn, at 3 degrees Taurus, goes retrograde from August 15 until December 29. Basically, this transit is about taking the time to figure out your game plan for the next year. Saturns two and a half-year transit through Aries signified a time when we initiated new action in our lives that provided a structure for the accomplishment of our long-term goals. During Saturns retrograde, try to get in touch with the specific, measurable results that would have to be produced in order for you to know that you have reached your goals. On October 26, Saturn will move back into the sign of Aries. This is a time of recommitting ourselves to "walking our talk," to be truly accountable for our actions, and to take a stand for what we want to manifest. Saturn will go direct again on December 29 and then will move back into Taurus in March 1999. August 20 Mars enters Leo Mars is in the sign of Leo this month beginning on August 20 and continuing through October 7. Having both Venus and Mars in Leo really brings up the heat in the passion department. The positive pole or higher meaning of passion is self-actualization, so Im not just speaking about sexuality here. Since Mars rules the power chakra (how you assert your will) and Venus the heart chakra, this duo naturally creates a strong desire within us to express what we are passionate about. When I work with clients one of the things I look and listen for is clues to what they are passionate about. A seemingly depressed person will light up instantaneously when they begin to talk about their passion, what makes them feel alive. Use these transits to discover what you are passionate about and begin to integrate it into your life more and more. August 21 New moon in Leo August ends with a new moon at 28 degrees Leo. With the new moon in Leo, the focus this next month is on nurturing ourselves through bringing out the divine child within. The divine child is the source of our creativity, spontaneity, and enthusiasm. Its qualities are mirrored back to us through the love and appreciation we have for the innocence and directness of the external children we meet in our day-to-day lives. What we love about our external children are the exact qualities inherent in our own divine child. Use this month to tap into your sense of wonder and awe, the joy and aliveness that you receive by being totally present and in the moment. Bring a sense of play into your life by being willing to let go of your seriousness and self-consciousness. Remember, no matter how deep your child may be buried among the rubble of responsibility and duty, if you take some time this month to nurture yourself on this level, you may be pleasantly surprised to find a willing child that wants to come out and play! August 22 Neptune retrograde into Capricorn Neptune in Aquarius, which has been retrograde since May 4, goes back into the sign of Capricorn on August 22. This Neptune retrograde is particularly important for those born at the end of Aries (April 18-23), Cancer (July 18 to 23), Libra (October 18-23) and Capricorn (January 18-23) as transiting Neptune will be either conjuncting (Capricorn), opposing (Cancer), or squaring (Aries and Libra) their natal sun positions. This is the penultimate transit of surrender, as Neptune is asking them to surrender the ego so that they can open more fully to being guided by spirit. It is also a call for anyone with planets located at the end of these four signs to begin to embody spiritual and transcendent energies into the essence of who they are. August 23 Sun enters Virgo The sun moves into the sign of Virgo on August 23 at 12:59 a.m. The reaping of the harvest begun in Leo now reaches full harvest in Virgo: a harvest culled using the discriminative faculties with the intent of doing it cleanly, precisely, and with care. The Virgo principle involves analyzing and improving upon the creative output generated in Leo through discernment and efficiency. Our job during the sign of Virgo is to utilize the discriminative faculties of the mind and our discipleship to improve and perfect the physical vehicle so that it becomes a purified vessel for divine spirit.
