By adding the universal year 2002, (2+0+0+2) = 4, to the 12th month of December, we come up with the vibration of 16/7. The 7 month is about taking the time to tune into what has meaning in your life. It is a time for inner reflection, contemplation, and rest. Use this month to tap into what has meaning for you through art, meditation, being close to nature and, if possible, retreat time. Look to see how you can create alone time for expanding your insights, creativity, and practical accomplishment. December 1 Mars enters Scorpio. Mars moves into the sign of Scorpio on December 1 and will be there until January 17, 2003. With Mars in Scorpio, the focus of your energy and will is on the unconscious forces in your life. The reason Scorpio energy is so often maligned is that it represents the descent into the realm of powerful life force energies that many people are unwilling to deal with or are extremely uncomfortable with. It represents the heros or heroines journey into the underworld to slay the dragon or the death/rebirth process symbolized by the phoenix rising from the ashes. It is the realm of the so-called "darker" emotions: rage, jealousy, anger, envy, and spite, to name just a few. It is also the realm of sexuality and power. No wonder everyone has such a hard time with Scorpio energy. It demands that you be willing to resurrect yourself by going through the dark night of the soul, slaying the dragon of intense emotion, passion, and power. For most people, going to the realm of Scorpio seems to represent a sure and quick route to their own demise! In other words, if they were to confront the dragons of their own primal life force energies, those dragons would surely chew them up, spit them out, and move on to the next foolish victims! With Mars in Scorpio, you have the opportunity to explore your own intensity , passion, and power. Look at how comfortable you are with your sexuality, deep emotional expression, and power. Do you have a belief that says being truly spiritual means getting out of your first three chakras (money, sex, and power/emotion) as fast as you can so you can focus on the higher, more "spiritual" chakras? Do you feel like you are repressing yourself in these areas because you or your family, friends, or loved ones cant deal with your intensity? If so, this is a great time to let yourself explore how you can accept and open to your own inner fire. Tap into your primal life force energy through experiencing African dance or ecstatic movement, deeply moving music, drumming, or some form of emotional release or expression that feels safe to you. As you tap into your primal life force, you can literally animate your body and your life with renewed energy and vitality. Let Mars in Scorpio support you in accessing the depths as well as the heights inherent in the term "embodied spirituality." December 4 Jupiter Retrograde. Jupiter in Leo is retrograde from December 4 until April 3, 2003. The Jupiter retrograde, lasting about 4 months, is a time to tap into your own inner teacher. In Vedic or Hindu astrology, the Sanskrit word used for Jupiter is "guru." Each of us, whether formally or informally, is a teacher of something. The sign and house placement of Jupiter in your chart not only refers to where you get the greatest expansion of your own consciousness (where you teach yourself) but also indicates what you naturally wish to teach others. Since Jupiter also is the ruler of the second chakra, the center of "pro-creation," it is also associated with how you express your creative urge. When I share this perspective with my clients, they often are not aware that they naturally teach others all the time with their Jupiter skills. In a Jupiter retrograde period, you can tune in more deeply to the wisdom that wants to flow through you out into the world. A powerful way to utilize this Jupiter retrograde is to visualize the way you are already sharing your wisdom with others. Ill give you key words for each of the signs Jupiter falls in. (If you dont know what sign your Jupiter falls in, look it up in an astrological ephemeris.) These keys words, then, represent what you want to learn and what you naturally teach others either formally or informally: Aries teaches empowerment, Taurus teaches embodiment, Gemini teaches communication, Cancer teaches assimilation, Leo teaches spontaneity, Virgo teaches discernment, Libra teaches balance, Scorpio teaches depth, Sagittarius teaches inspiration, Capricorn teaches manifestation, Aquarius teaches reformation, and Pisces teaches transcendence. December 4 New Moon in Sagittarius. The new moon in Sagittarius brings in a sense of renewed enthusiasm and spirited adventure. With the Moon in Sagittarius, the focus this month is on emotional self-expression, heightened idealism, and nurturing yourself by embracing your spiritual quest. With the Moon in Sagittarius, you have an opportunity to learn what nurtures you spiritually. Moving beyond the love of spiritual knowledge (books, classes, workshops), the Moon in Sagittarius invites you to move into your own wisdom by practicing and experiencing the presence of spirit in your life. December 8-February 13 Mercury in Capricorn. Mercury in Capricorn activates your left brain abilities of logical, sequential, and linear thought. With Mercury in Capricorn, your ability to focus on strategy will be enhanced and you will probably find it easier to map out what steps you will need to take to manifest your goals or it may be that at this time you will be able to more clearly focus your mind on what your actual goals are. This is a great time to accomplish a lot, particularly if the focus is on writing, speaking, or any form of communication. Its also a great time to physically ground all the details youve been tracking by making master lists of what you want to accomplish and then prioritizing the goals on your lists. Mercury in Capricorn helps you manage and structure the contents of your mind so you can plan in detail how you are going to go about accomplishing your goals. Use this time to get linear, logical, and organized! Mercury in Capricorn helps you focus your mind in a systematic way. If attention to details is a problem for you, this transit can usually help out. If making lists of things to do is difficult, get out some large paper and crayons and just brainstorm all the things youve wanted to do. Just getting it out of your brain and onto paper will help you be more objective about what to do next. Mercury in Capricorn helps you more clearly articulate your vision so that you can manifest it in the world. By clearly stating (in written form, too!) what you want in terms of specific, measurable, tangible results, you enhance your chances of manifesting what you want. December 12-15 Venus squares Neptune. Venus/Neptune heightens your idealism to the maximum. With Venus square Neptune, you are challenged to blend your idealism with your desire to serve others in an impersonal way. Review your dreams for yourself and your desire to serve others at this time. What can you do now to begin bringing down your ideals so they can become realized? Quiet your mind and allow your feelings of compassion for others to flow through your heart. You may find yourself inspired to express what you are experiencing and feeling at this time through art, dance, gentle flowing movement, or any activity where you bypass the rational mind and move into subtler levels of communication. December 13-16 Mars squares Neptune. Mars in Scorpio is in a challenging relationship with Neptune in Aquarius from December 13-16. Mars/Neptune aspects speak of aligning personal will (Mars) with divine will (Neptune). These are the penultimate aspects of letting go or surrendering personal will so that you can be guided by spirit. Mars/Neptune is a clarion call for humanitarian action and compassion. Please join me this holiday season in sending out a global prayer for lasting peace, reconciliation, and compassionate, humanitarian aid for all those who are suffering. December 13-17 Mars sextiles Chiron. Mars in Scorpio is in a positive relationship with Chiron in Capricorn from December 13-17. This combination speaks to the channeling of tremendous healing power (Chiron in Capricorn) into personal transformation (Mars in Scorpio). Hopefully, we will see a tremendous global humanitarian effort benefiting those who are in need of physical sustenance and emotional support. On a personal level, this is a good time to look at how you can help out in this area. Is there a particular humanitarian cause that speaks to you? Look at the issues that make you are feeling outraged or "righteously indignant." This will give you a clue about where you truly want to make a difference. December 18-28 Jupiter trines Pluto. Jupiter in Leo is in a flowing relationship with Pluto in Sagittarius from December 18-28. Jupiter/Pluto transits are the fuel for changes in mass consciousness. With the trine between Jupiter and Pluto, we are becoming aware of the need to balance creativity and levity (Leo) with wisdom (Sagittarius). Use this transit to re-examine and re-evaluate your fundamental beliefs. Jupiter/Pluto asks you to transform your beliefs by stepping back to gain a larger perspective. December 19 Full moon in Gemini. The full moon brings to light or awareness the qualities you can focus on this month to truly nurture yourself. This month the moon is full on December 19 at 27degrees Gemini. The full moon in Gemini presents you with the opportunity to nurture yourself through connecting with others for the purpose of giving and receiving information. Its a great time to take a class, read up about a subject that broadens your knowledge base, or just get together with friends for stimulating conversation. With the full moon in Gemini, the challenge is to expand your personal network of friends and associates so that you can grow intellectually. Its easy to forget about your need for intellectual stimulation, so use this full moon to nurture yourself in this area of your life. December 22 Sun enters Capricorn. The Sun goes into the sign of Capricorn on December 22. At the Winter Solstice, little in nature is left above ground and all living things have to consolidate and preserve their energies in order to survive the cold of winter. At this time of shorter days and ever-increasing light, the earth patiently endures, waiting for new forms to manifest. The Capricorn principle demonstrates how self-reliance and consolidation of power and authority lead to mastery. Your job in the sign of Capricorn is to be a positive role model who demonstrates mastery of accomplishment and right use of power and authority. December 23-29 Venus and Mars square Jupiter. Venus and Mars are both in Scorpio and in a challenging relationship with Jupiter in Leo, December 23-29. Both Venus/Jupiter and Mars/Jupiter aspects put the focus on getting in touch with your desires and needs for physical and emotional nurturing in your relationships. If you are not really expressing and getting your needs met in these areas, including just getting out and having fun, then these powerful energies can give you an opportunity to express greater joy, passion, and heart-centeredness within the relationship. Its also a good time to be physically active, participating in activities that you love whether you are in an intimate relationship or not.
