By adding the universal year 2002, (2+0+0+2) = 4, to the 9th month of September we come up with the vibration of 13/4. The 4 month is a time for grounding and manifesting on the physical plane. The number four is all about producing tangible results in material form. With a solid plan of action, you can make great strides toward manifesting your goals this month. Look at your New Year’s resolutions or goals for the year and brainstorm activities that will get you closer to your goal. Then, prioritize those activities and schedule them into your daily life. By breaking your goals into monthly, weekly, and daily activities you will find that even the largest goals become doable.

September 1-4 Mars trines Chiron. Mars in Virgo is in a positive relationship with Chiron in Capricorn from September 1-4. Use this transit to empower yourself to be the authority you are! Chiron in Capricorn helps you heal the wounds that result from submitting your power to an outside authority. This could be a dominant parent, teacher, intimate partner, or religious leader. With Mars/Chiron together you have an opportunity to let go of the need for external approval and trust your own inner authority. This is a great time to honor your own sense of mastery and the accomplishments you have made in your life. Take time to acknowledge your own authority, and other people in your life will respect you even more.

September 2-4 Venus trines Uranus. Venus in Libra has an enlivening trine to Uranus in Aquarius, September 2-4. Venus/Uranus provides an opportunity for opening your heart chakra by literally running high voltage through the heart. This is represented physically and etherically through the process of channeling universal energy (Uranus) through the heart chakra (Venus), as in Reiki. Allow Venus/Uranus to help you break free from any restrictions you may be feeling in your emotional expression.

September 3-5 Mercury trines Neptune. Mercury is in a positive flow with Neptune from September 3-5 and again from September 22-24. With Neptune aspecting Mercury, the ruler of all areas of communication, you can expect major breakthroughs in your thinking process this month. Neptune activates your ability to access higher intuitive states, so by being receptive at this time you might receive guidance that can be quite illuminating.

September 6-15 Jupiter opposes Neptune. Jupiter in Leo is in challenging aspect to Neptune in Aquarius from September 6-15. This is an interesting combination as both planets are expansive and associated with developing a broader vision. Since Jupiter is in Leo, the sign of the heart, it is an especially good time to go on a vision quest to find out what you are passionate about. In the shamanic tradition, vision quests were opportunities to break out of the mold of everyday thinking (often through fasting or sacred substances) so that a higher vision of one’s purpose could be attained. The same outcome can be achieved with this transit by evoking and fostering the imaginal realm. As you bypass the rational mind through drawing, trance work, hypnosis, or dream work you can access deeper layers of mind that can bring forth an expanded vision of who you are.

September 7 New Moon in Virgo. With the new moon in Virgo, your awareness is focused on taking care of yourself on an emotional level. Use this month to find out what your body needs to support your emotional health. Maybe it needs more exercise, better nutrition, or more attention to diet. The new moon in Virgo helps you tune into how you can nurture the relationship between body and mind.

September 7 Venus enters Scorpio. Venus moves through the sign of Scorpio from September 7 through January 7, 2003. Venus in Scorpio is a very powerful placement that calls you to pay attention to the deepest parts of who you are. The reason the sign of Scorpio is so often maligned is that it represents the process of purification of what psychologists call the shadow. These are the powerful emotions that most people find very difficult to deal with — rage and other forms of intense anger, jealously, sexual intensity, and grief. The Scorpio process demands that you dive into the center of this intensity and embrace it as a vital part of your humanness. Many people fear that if they truly embrace their intensity, they will surely die. As a result many choose to repress their emotional intensity, their sexuality, and their vitality. Venus in Scorpio is a call to integrate these "taboo" areas into the heart of who you are. Use this time to assess how open you feel to expressing the Scorpio force in your relationships. Are you suppressing your passion or vitality because of restrictive messages you received during childhood? Do you fear that if you were to express the intensity of your emotions you would "blow your loved ones away?" Venus in Scorpio is a time be a spelunker of your emotional depth, to explore how you can access and release more aliveness and vitality in your relationships with others.

September 9-October 5 Mercury Retrograde. Mercury in Libra will be moving in retrograde motion from September 9 through October 5. Mercury retrograde helps you see, through external events, how your Mercury function (or throat chakra) is operating. If your communication skills are lacking in any area, it will be apparent when Mercury goes retrograde. Mercury retrograde is a call for greater impeccability in your life in the areas of speaking, writing, self-expression, and following through on your word. For example, many people experience Mercury retrograde as a time when communication breaks down to the point that they won’t do or sign anything. The superstition is that Mercury retrograde is a time to "lay low" and postpone any necessary business or communications until Mercury goes direct again. In other words, for many people there is ample evidence that Mercury retrograde "fouls things up!" I, too, could tell you stories of unreturned phone calls, undelivered mail, etc. It can begin to look like Mercury retrograde happens to you! The point of Mercury retrograde, however, is to teach you that adversity often challenges you to internalize your experience, to deepen your understanding of your own nature so that you can achieve mastery in your life.

With Mercury retrograde in Libra, the challenge is to look at your addiction to being nice, to the way you accommodate the needs of others to the point that you lose yourself. You have an opportunity now to step back and be more objective and detached about what needs to be communicated. The focus now is on communicating what is just, fair and equitable. With Mercury in Libra, you have the opportunity to speak the truth without fear of what others will think of you.

September 20-23 Mars squares Pluto. Mars in Virgo is in a challenging relationship with Pluto in Sagittarius from September 20-23. This transit should really help you mobilize your will and rededicate yourself to a cause or quest! With Mars/Pluto, the planet of personal will (Mars) connects with the planet of collective will (Pluto). This is an extremely powerful square, which gives you the power to take action on your highest ideals. The challenge is to do so without ramming your agendas or beliefs down anyone else’s throat. The key is to express your ideals and convictions with great power without falling into the trap of dogmatism or attachment.

September 21 Full moon in Pisces. On September 21 there is a full moon at 28 degrees Pisces. The full moon in Pisces asks you to tune into your desire to merge with spirit. The full moon in Pisces calls you to bring full awareness to the path of surrendering your sense of separation so that you can once again experience the bliss of unity consciousness. Use this full moon to nurture yourself spiritually through contemplation, meditation, flowing movement, and music.

September 23 Sun enters Libra. The Sun moves into Libra on the September 23, the day of the autumnal equinox. The autumnal equinox marks the beginning of fall, initiating a new balance in nature. The falling of leaves begins the formation of fresh humus that will eventually replenish the soil depleted by the year's growth. The Libra principle is associated with balance, equanimity, justice, and mediation. Our job in the sign of Libra is to be peacemakers, to promote a social consciousness that is just to all, and to reflect and mirror to others the balance and beauty, the light and dark, of relationship.
