July 1-5 Mars conjuncts Jupiter Mars in Cancer is at the same degree as Jupiter in Cancer from July 1-5. This is a very exuberant and energizing transit, so it's a great time to be physically active and in "doing" mode. There is strong "warrior" energy with Mars/Jupiter, so the only caution is to try not to push yourself too hard or to push your agenda or ideals on others. July 1-2 Mercury conjuncts Saturn With Mercury in Gemini at the same degree as Saturn in Gemini, we have an opportunity to align our ideas with a definite plan of action. What is the form or specific plan that you can begin implementing that would really contribute to your overall sense of mental well-being? Mercury conjunct Saturn is a great time for taking on any project for which you need to focus the mind on specific details. July 5-6 Mercury trines Uranus With these two planets acting synergistically, we have an unusually strong connection with higher mind. Mercury in Gemini trine Uranus can seem a little over-stimulating at first, as the concrete mind is flooded with insight from higher mind. Have a tape recorder ready so you can "download" some of this highly intuitive or introspective information. July 7 Mercury enters Cancer Mercury travels through the sign of Cancer from July 7-21. With Mercury in Cancer, we have the opportunity to blend our intellect with our emotions. It is a time for all of us to speak out more honestly about what we are feeling. For those who consider themselves emotionally centered anyway, this is a time to communicate more clearly about what you are feeling, as you will be able to use the natural discriminative qualities of the mind to clarify your emotions. For those who are more intellectually centered, this is a time to suspend the critical faculties long enough for the underlying emotion to be heard. In other words, this could look like going with your emotional promptings despite your mind's objections or analysis. July 8-9 Venus opposite Uranus Venus in Leo has an enlivening opposition to Uranus in Aquarius July 8-9. Venus/Uranus provides an opportunity for opening our heart chakras by literally running high voltage through the heart. This is represented physically and etherically through the process of channeling universal energy (Uranus) through the heart chakra (Venus), as in Reiki. Allow Venus/Uranus to help you break free from any restrictions you may be feeling in your emotional expression. July 9-10 Mercury opposes Chiron With Mercury in Cancer opposing Chiron in Capricorn, the focus is on healing the wounds we have around trusting our inherent wisdom and authority. It is now time to throw off the injunctions (from past and present lives) that have prevented us from speaking the truth as we know it. This may look like letting go of the thought that we must have advanced degrees or special training to validate and prove our spiritual authority, or it may require that we learn to let go of the conscious mind long enough so that our inherent wisdom can surface on its own without censoring. Having done our healing work, Mercury in opposition to Chiron in Capricorn will bring us incredible opportunities to powerfully share universal truth and wisdom on the planet. July 10 Venus enters Virgo Venus, the planet of love, travels through the sign of Virgo from July 10-August 6. Virgo is a sign that is often misunderstood in our culture due to various misinterpretations of its fundamental purpose over the centuries. The images that we have of Virgo, particularly Venus in Virgo, are the spinster, the chaste woman, and the celibate. In other words, Virgo has not been seen as a particularly sexy sign! If we go back to Greek mythology, though, we find the sign Virgo represented by the vestal virgins, sacred priestesses that tended the eternal flame in the temples. They were known as virgins not because they were asexual, but because they remained unmarried and belonged to no man and were whole and complete unto themselves. The vestal virgins also knew the secrets of how to awaken the kundalini energies within the body and were knowledgeable about Indian yogic practices such as tantra. Far from being chaste, the virgins practiced the high art of sexual devotion, and were masters at transforming sexual energy for the purposes of enlightenment. When Venus is in Virgo, we all have the opportunity to look at how we are manifesting our sexual energy. Are we repressing it, denying our own needs? Are we in touch with the desire to make our sexuality part of our spiritual path and not separate from it? I have found this to be a huge issue with many of my clients and this issue is often expressed as: "If I can't integrate the sacred into my sexuality, then why bother?" It seems that many people are just not willing to separate their sexuality from their spirituality anymore. This is reflected in the growing interest in tantric practices and other forms of sacred sexuality. July 10 New moon in Cancer A new moon occurs at 18 degrees Cancer on July 10. The focus this month is discovering what we need for nurturing and comfort. Most of us are better at nurturing other people than ourselves, so this month is about "nurturing the nurturer." Spend some time by or in the water (preferably hot) this month. Examine your needs for being dependent on others. Is it really hard for you to ask for help? Do you go out of your way to look independent so you don't have to acknowledge your dependence? Open yourself to the nurturing influence of "the Mother" this month; you might be surprised at how she is always close to you through a myriad of helpful friends and loved ones! July 14-25 Venus trines Chiron and squares Pluto Venus in Virgo is in a positive aspect with Chiron in Capricorn from July 14-15 and in challenging aspect with Pluto in Sagittarius July 23-25. These transits facilitate getting in touch with what we are passionate about. Venus/Chiron and Venus/Pluto transits ask us to speak out about our convictions or what we are "righteously indignant" about. Many people never discover what they are passionate about because a layer of anger often veils their passion. Since anger is seen by many as an undesirable quality, the underlying passion is often thrown out as well. Venus in aspect to Chiron/Pluto asks us to speak out about our convictions and heal any wounds we may have around expressing our truth or our passion. July 21-August 6 Mercury in Leo With Mercury in Leo, the emphasis is on using the imaginative and playful aspects of the mind to create your own reality. Since the subtle, or intuitive, mind is a nonlinear, or non-analytic, function, during this transit the best way to benefit from the power of the mind is in playful, creative ways. Try art, dance, creative writing using the non-dominant hand, and the techniques of brainstorming to further your creative efforts this month. As we suspend the critical and analytic part of our brains, we often can come up with undreamed-of solutions to everyday and major life decisions. By using the power of imagination and play, we free the mind to generate new possibilities that far exceed the dualistic "this or that" mentality of the concrete mind. You can also use Mercury in Leo to rethink your own creativity. Most people associate creativity with overt forms such as music, art, or other artistic expressions. With Mercury in Leo, we have an opportunity to get in touch with our creative muse, the divine child within. Use this transit to tap into your creative child. Find out how he or she would like to play. For many of us who are "doers," this is a tough assignment, as we were taught that we could play when the work was done. And guess what? The work was never done! Try working with clay or just being goofy. By giving your child permission to play, you will unleash the creative force within. Let the play be with you! July 23 Sun enters Leo The sun moves into the sign of Leo on July 23. In nature, it is the height of the heat of summer, and the fruit is ripe and ready for picking. The Leo principle relates to the ripening and expression of one's creative energies. Our job in Leo is to tap into the beauty and fiery spirit of the divine child within and be role models for others in how to let that energy flow outward so that it is brought to fruition. July 24 Full moon in Aquarius The full moon occurs at 1 degree of Aquarius on July 24. For this next month, the emphasis is on learning how to detach emotionally in a positive way. The moon in Aquarius calls us to learn how we can be emotionally present to others while maintaining our individuality and our own center. The Aquarius moon will also heighten our desire to find the "tribe" or community that supports and nourishes our vision. July 26-29 Mars opposes Neptune Mars in Leo is in a challenging relationship with Neptune in Aquarius from July 26-29. The opportunity with this transit is to see how we can express our own creativity and will (Mars in Leo) in service to humanity and spirit (Neptune in Aquarius). Mars/Neptune aspects represent a shift of understanding of the true power of surrender. In the past, surrendering our personal sense of will has been seen as a sign of weakness, submission, and downright lunacy. In the new millennium, however, surrender to divine will is actually an empowering experience. As we surrender our sense of personal will, we also surrender our sense of isolation and separation. As we open to the power of surrender, we invite grace into our lives. In other words, as we learn to get our personalities out of the way, spirit has more room to support us in a co-creative relationship that is nurturing, empowering and fulfilling. By adding the universal
year 2002 (2+0+0+2=4) to the 7th month of July, we come up with
the vibration of 11/2. The main themes of a 2 month are reflection,
cooperation, and harmonization. We can achieve a great
deal this month by bringing our lives into greater balance and
harmony and through working in cooperation with others. In a
2 month, we learn to harmonize with life so that it becomes a
cooperative effort rather than just an individual one. Use this
month to reflect on the new life experiences and directions that
you initiated last month. Ask yourself: What is the universal
feedback I am being given about the new directions I have chosen?
