Restoring Balance with Vibrational Healing

by Joy Gardner

To get an overview of how vibrational healing works, it helps to understand that, compared to other life forms, human beings are easily thrown off balance by stress and tension. Stones and plants, on the other hand, hold a consistent vibratory frequency. Crystals are used in radios because they vibrate at a steady rate that corresponds to a specific radio band. When you place crystals and aromatic oils at various parts of your body, the vibrations of the body begin to entrain to the balanced healthy vibrations of these pure elements.

Sounds and aromas are received by the ancient reptilian part of the brain, where they bypass verbal communication and communicate directly to the subconscious. Using spontaneous primal sounds for emotional release helps to shatter old "stuck" holding patterns. Melodic or soothing sounds help restore healthy, harmonic vibrations.

Virtually every physical ailment has an underlying emotional component. Unexpressed emotions create physical illness as well as addictions. I learned that from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the Swiss psychiatrist who pioneered work in death and dying. Forgiveness toward self and others is a prerequisite before real healing can take place. That’s a basic principle in the Hawaiian Kahuna teachings.

I combine these concepts with aromatherapy, gemstone therapy, and sound healing in my Vibrational Healing Pressure Technique. I used this method recently to clear some of my own minor problems. I was recuperating from a ten-hour flight from Ohio to Hawaii, and especially from the empty food they served on the plane: white bun sandwiches with bologna and American cheese.

I’m ordinarily quite healthy, but I am both cursed and blessed with a highly sensitive body, including mild allergies to wheat and dairy. If I had to eat a white-flour-and-processed-cheese diet for a whole week, I would suffer from serious indigestion, congestion, and constipation. When I eat whole grains with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, this is not a problem.

So I treated myself to a day of rest and a Vibrational Pressure Healing. I began by lying down and doing some deep breathing, relaxing every body part, from my feet to the top of my head. I was feeling abdominal discomfort, so I rested my hands gently on my abdomen and spoke to my body as a mother might speak to her child. "I want you to know that I’m not trying to hurt or embarrass you. There are toxins that you are holding that are causing pain. They may be related to guilt or shame or fear or just bad food. Whatever it is, I want you to know that I am not here to judge you. I want to support you to bring it up and let it go."

This felt reassuring, and I spontaneously took a deep breath from my lower abdomen. Then I probed along the curvature of my large intestines until I located a tender spot at the bottom of my descending colon on the lower left side. As I applied pressure there, I released gas. I continued to press and release while I encouraged this part of my body to "speak out loud," giving it permission to be uninhibited, to express whatever was inside without censoring it. When I gave it a voice, it said, "Ugh! This is disgusting." Then I had a desire to eliminate. On the toilet, I released more gas. My stomach began to gurgle. My abdomen became soft. I felt much better. I resolved that on my next flight I would bring my own food, or I would request the vegetarian option.

I asked myself for an affirmation to heal this issue. The words "I trust myself" came into my mind. Then I asked for an aroma that would feel soothing. I thought of the comforting smell of peppermint. I asked for a stone that would be beneficial. The soothing blue of turquoise popped into my mind. This is a good stone for the digestion.

I opened the bottle of peppermint oil and inhaled, which made me feel better. I lay down on my bed and rubbed it directly onto the flesh at my lower left intestinal area. I took several minutes to breathe deeply and absorb these vibrations while repeating "I trust myself" three times aloud. Finally, I made a low, sustained sound to convey trust for myself. I probed again, and the pain was gone.

The next tender spot was between my ribs under my left arm. When I probed, it said, "I don’t want to share this one." It seemed related to holding my breath.

I asked myself why I was holding my breath, and then I allowed myself to feel my nervousness about whether I made enough money from this last trip to the mainland to support myself for the next two months while I put together a proposal for my new book. I gave myself permission to cry and scream, to release tension. The affirmation that came to me was "I am competent."

I thought of the aroma of lavender, which is relaxing. The stone I chose was malachite. As I looked at the circular patterns of this green stone, the complexity of the pattern assured me that I could enjoy handling the financial details of my life. I rubbed some of the oil into the painful area and placed the stone on the couch next to my ribs. I made sounds that conveyed my competence. I probed again, and there was no more pain.

I felt so much better. I made a whooping sound, shouting out in celebration.

My body was virtually pain-free. My abdomen was soft, and I felt good. I learned some things about myself. I know my life will be better because I took the time to do this process.

These were insignificant issues, yet they lodged themselves in my physical body. There is a saying in Chinese medicine that "if you treat minor problems as if they were major ones, you will never have to deal with major ones." That has certainly proven true for me, and I am grateful for the vibrational tools that have helped me to eliminate both small and large issues.

If you would like to try this technique, here are some guidelines. Feel free to change the order or to improvise.

• Locate a tender area in your body.

• Use the tip of a finger to apply pressure, on and off, repeatedly. Find a degree of pressure that arouses pain without causing extreme discomfort. Concentrate on the pain and allow it to speak with your voice. You might ask, "What are you trying to tell me?"

• Once you’ve identified the underlying problem, ask yourself if there is any action you can take to clear it.

• Think of an affirmation that will help to resolve the problem.

• Select an aroma and a stone that will help balance that part of your body. Use your intuition. Look at your stones, smell your oils, and use the ones you feel attracted to.

• Massage the oil into the painful part of your body and place the stone over that area, or close to it. (Do not apply undiluted oils directly to mucous membranes.)

• Make uninhibited primal vocal sounds to release tension or anger. You might think of yourself as roaring like a lion or growling like a bear. Then use soothing sounds to support and strengthen your body and spirit, as if you were singing a lullaby to yourself.

• Relax and breathe deeply from your lower abdomen while saying the affirmation aloud three times.

A simple kit can be prepared with seven basic oils and seven stones. Select one or two of the following stones and oils for each chakra. These are just guidelines. You can use any oil or stone on any part of the body, but this will give you a wide range to choose from.

First chakra stones: red garnet, black obsidian; oils: patchouli, rose geranium

Second chakra stones: tiger’s eye, carnelian; oils: jasmine, sandalwood

Third chakra stones: citrine, turquoise; oils: peppermint, lemon

Fourth chakra stones: green jade, rose quartz; oils: ylang ylang, rose

Fifth chakra stones: sodalite, azurite; oils: German chamomile, eucalyptus

Sixth chakra stones: sugilite, lapis; oils: juniper berry, rosemary

Seventh chakra stones: amethyst, clear quartz; oils: lavender, frankincense
