June 2-4 Venus conjuncts Jupiter Venus in Cancer is at the same degree as Jupiter in Cancer from June 2-4. Venus/Jupiter aspects put the focus on getting in touch with your desires and needs for physical and emotional nurturing in your relationships. If you are not really expressing and getting your needs met in these areas, including just getting out and having fun together, then these powerful energies can give you an opportunity to express greater joy, passion, and heart within the relationship. Its also a good time to be physically active, participating in activities that you love, whether you are in an intimate relationship or not. June 6-November 3 Uranus retrograde Uranus goes retrograde at 28 degrees Aquarius on June 6 and wont go direct again until November 3. Uranus retrograde lasts for about five months, and is a time to deepen our attunement to the subtle and not-so-subtle energy that is constantly flowing through our bodies. Uranus speaks, in particular, of electromagnetic energy, which in different traditions is described as prana, chi, ki, kundalini, shakti, or life force. As Uranus finishes its transit through of the sign Aquarius (March 2003), we are being awakened to the realization that we are truly energetic beings constantly enveloped by a universal energy field that is always available to us. Our job during Uranus retrograde is to see how open we are to receiving this energy. The reason I mention the not-so-subtle aspect of Uranus energy is that many of the people I work with are experiencing tremendous increases of energy in their bodies at this time, particularly the Aquarians who have transiting Uranus conjunct their sun. What is being asked of us during the next year is to remove the blocks that prevent universal energy from running in our bodies. Wherever there is resistance to increased energy, there is tension. This can manifest as excess nervous energy, impatience, irritability, anxiety, or muscular tension. One of the best ways to deal with these symptoms is through breathing practices and bodywork, which open up the body so that it can handle increased energy without being over-amped. June 6 - June 9 Mars opposes Chiron Mars in Cancer will be in a challenging relationship with Chiron in Capricorn from June 6-9. Mars is the planet representing the assertion of personal will, and Chiron is the planet or comet representing healing. In particular, Chiron is the mentor, teacher, and quest guide that taught Jason and the Argonauts all they needed to know to embark on their quest. With Chiron in opposition to Mars, we have an opportunity to heal our issues around negative mentoring experiences and to receive guidance and wise counsel from others that can help us on our quest. For many people, the experience of having positive role models and mentors is sorely lacking. To really take advantage of this transit, seek out mentors in the areas of your life where you would like to move forward. Having a mentor who can show you the ropes or just tell you their experience is an invaluable and healing thing to do for yourself at this time. The funny thing is that most people are afraid of asking those who they admire for help, and yet there are so many people who would be honored to help in the mentoring role. All we have to do is ask! June 8 Mercury direct Mercury, which has been retrograde since May 15, goes direct on June 8. Mercury retrogrades help us to get in touch with our vision so that we can clearly articulate what we want. Now that Mercury has gone direct again, we can take our newfound clarity and communicate it with others, thereby causing our thoughts to manifest in external form in the world. With Mercury direct in Gemini, its time to brainstorm new possibilities. Mercury in the Gemini helps us to generate new ideas and disseminate them to an ever-increasing network of friends and acquaintances. By clearly stating (in written form, too!) what we want in terms of specific, measurable, tangible results, we have a much greater chance of manifesting what we want with the help of our network of like-minded supporters. June 10 New moon in Gemini The new moon in Gemini presents the opportunity this month of nurturing ourselves through connecting with others for the purpose of giving and receiving information. Its a great time to take a class, read up about a subject that broadens your knowledge base, or just get together with friends for stimulating conversation. With the new moon in Gemini, the challenge is to expand our personal network of friends and associates so that we can grow intellectually. Oftentimes we forget about our need for intellectual stimulation, so use the new moon to nurture yourself in this area of your life. June 14 Venus enters Leo Venus will move through the sign of Leo from June 14-July 10. With Venus in Leo, we have an opportunity to reinvent our values so that they are rooted in our own unique experience. Having clarified our values, the natural inclination is to want to share them with others, to connect and link up with like-minded souls who support our individuality and creativity. By sharing with and being supported by like-minded souls, we have an opportunity to share our heart with others, to let down our guard so that we can be truly received and appreciated for who we are. This can be a time of major heart opening. The Venus in Leo transit brings out our passion and desire to speak from our hearts. Venus in Leo calls us to return to the innocence of the child within, to allow the spontaneous outpouring of love to emanate from the heart chakra. With Venus in Leo, we have an opportunity to liberate our hearts, to break free from inhibitions or beliefs that have kept our hearts from being fully opened in the past. June 20 Sun enters Cancer The sun moves into the sign of Cancer on June 21. At the summer solstice, the light is at its zenith. In nature, the budding plant has assimilated nurturing from the environment and is beginning to manifest an identifiable form. The Cancer principle involves the assimilation of impressions from the outer world, particularly intimate experiences of nurturing. Our job during the sign of Cancer is to create a secure and stable sense of belonging for ourselves and others that stems from our experiences of positive familial imprinting or that is centered in our awareness of belonging to a greater spiritual family. June 22-24 Venus opposes Neptune Just after Venus moves into Leo, it will move into a positive configuration with Neptune in Aquarius. Venus in opposition to Neptune asks us to balance our personal desires with our impulse to serve the collective. Use this transit to open your heart and to discover how you can put your compassion and unconditional love for others into action. June 24 Full moon and lunar eclipse The full moon and lunar eclipse occur at 3 degrees Capricorn on July 24. For this next month, the emphasis is on creating emotional safety, groundedness, and security. The full moon in Capricorn calls us to reconnect with the earth element in our lives. The challenge this month is to tune into our natural self-reliance. The lunar eclipse will also heighten our desire to take whatever steps are necessary so that we can be more fully in our bodies, secure in the knowledge that we are approaching life with a pragmatic and realistic focus. June 27-28 Venus trines Pluto Venus in Leo trines Pluto in Sagittarius June 27-28. Venus/Pluto asks us to go deeper than our normal pattern of superficial day-to-day communication. In other words, if someone asks you "How are you?" you have the opportunity to really tell the truth. It's also a time to get in touch with your core values, what you are deeply convicted and passionate about.
