By adding the universal year 2002 (2+0+0+2=4) to the third month of March, we come up with the vibration of 7. The 7 month is about taking the time to tune in to what has meaning in your life. It is a time for inner reflection, contemplation, and rest. Use this month to tap into what has meaning for you through art, meditation, being close to nature, and, if possible, retreat time. Look to see how you can create a harmonious balance between practical accomplishment and alone time for expanding your insights and creativity.

March 1 Jupiter goes direct Jupiter, which has been retrograde since November 2, will be going direct on March 1 at 5 degrees Cancer. The Jupiter retrograde, which lasts about four months, was a time to tap into our own inner teacher. In Vedic or Hindu astrology, the Sanskrit word used for Jupiter is "guru." Each of us, whether formally or informally, is a teacher of something. The sign and house placement of Jupiter in your chart not only refers to where you get the greatest expansion of your own consciousness (where you teach yourself) but also indicates what you naturally wish to teach others. Since Jupiter is also the ruler of the second chakra, the center of "pro-creation," it is also associated with how you express your creative urge. Now that Jupiter is moving direct, we can tune in more deeply to the wisdom and creativity that wants to flow through us out into the world.

March 1 Mars enters Taurus Mars, the planet of personal will, moves through the sign of Taurus from March 1 through April 13. With Mars in an earth sign, it is a great time to formulate and implement your plans. With Mars in Taurus, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get dirty! Taurus represents the process of formulating or codifying what we value so that we can share it with others in a very practical and down-to-earth way. Use Mars in Taurus to help you handle all the "grunt work" that needs to be done so that you can clear a path for sharing your ideas or values with others. Use Mars in Taurus to catch up with all the physical things (remodeling, repairing, beautifying, strengthening) that you need to get done. Your energy will be stronger at this time, so just be careful not to be too "bullish."

March 7 Venus enters Aries Venus passes through the sign of Aries from March 7 through April 1. This is passion time! Take a look at how passion figures into your life during this transit. What do you get passionate about? The positive pole of passion is self-actualization, heightened awareness, and being intensely alive. What can you do now that increases your sense of aliveness? Needless to say, this is a great time to renew the passion in your relationships, too! With Venus in Aries, it is also time to take constructive action on what you value or are passionate about. Try to be guided by your heart rather than your mind at this time. By tapping into what you are passionate about, you also tap into your dharma, that sense of mission or purpose that will give your life increased meaning and joy.

March 11-29 Mercury in Pisces Our job when planets are journeying through the sign of Pisces is to learn the value of surrender and to open our consciousness so that we can transcend our perception of separateness. With Mercury in Pisces, we have an opportunity to communicate our understanding of these principles to others. Having learned the lessons of walking our talk, taking a stand for ourselves, and creating distinct boundaries, we can then flow more gracefully with the Piscean energies without fear of losing ourselves through unconsciously merging with others.

Creating a sense of distinct personal boundaries is often one of the greatest challenges for those that have been very open emotionally and intuitively from an early age. Oftentimes the intuitive person sees his or her gifts as a liability rather than an asset. The hidden blessing from the soul perspective, though, is that the intuitive/feeler personality has had great training in merging or transcending self. If we can reframe these abilities in a spiritual context this month (i.e. the "urge to merge" with Spirit), then the highest manifestation of Pisces energies, the desire for unity consciousness, can emerge.

With Mercury in Pisces, it’s also time to re-envision your dreams. One of the most powerful ways you can do this is to access the imaginal realm through journaling, drawing, meditation, or daydreaming. It is through the imaginal realm that all new possibilities are created. By allowing your imagination to lead at this time, you may access new ways of being that you’ve never "dreamed" of before.

March 14 New moon in Pisces The new moon in Pisces completes the moon’s voyage around the zodiac. In the final stage of nature's cycle, as many of you gardeners know, the soil is being broken up or composted to be made ready for spring planting. With the new moon in Pisces, we have an opportunity to surrender to this process by letting go emotionally. Going with the flow, immersing yourself spiritually, and finding positive outlets for your compassion for others are all ways of tuning in to this moon cycle.

March 14-17 Mars squares Neptune Mars in Taurus is in a challenging relationship with Neptune in Aquarius for the next three days. With Mars/Neptune energy, we are asked to surrender our sense of personal will so that we can be guided by Spirit. So much of what we learn in this culture has to do with making things happen or using our strong will to control and manage our lives. Use the energy of Mars and Neptune to learn how to surrender your attachment to the outcome. By acknowledging that we are not alone, we can then tap into grace and return to being in the flow of life rather than fighting it.

March 20 Pluto retrograde Pluto will be retrograde in Sagittarius from March 20 through August 26. With Pluto retrograde in Sagittarius, this is a time to check in with how we are manifesting our power and speaking our truth. Since Pluto in our birth chart represents where we tap into collective power or will, Pluto retrogrades are a time when we can reflect on how we are using our personal power. Do powerful people make you uncomfortable? Do you react strongly to any perceived misuse of power from those in your life? Do you often see in others a tendency to manipulate or control? If so, then the Pluto retrograde period may be a time to look at how you may be feeling disempowered in your life. Conversely, it may be a time to discover how you can expand your sense of personal power into more areas of your life.

In particular, Pluto retrograde in Sagittarius is asking each of us to speak our own truth more powerfully. This is especially so for those born in middle degrees (15-18 degrees) of Sagittarius, as Pluto will be conjoining (at the same degree as) their sun this year. Pluto transits to the sun bring to the surface whatever we have repressed or hidden. If you have been hiding your light under the bushel and not sharing your truth (you know who you are!), then Pluto says, "Let’s blow apart whatever is preventing you from sharing your light and truth with others!"

March 20 Sun enters Aries The sun moves into Aries, heralding the spring equinox of equal days and equal nights, on March 20. The principles of Aries are initiation, germination, and emancipation. In the natural world, it is a time of sowing and germination. The seedling breaks out of the seed and makes its way through the soil to emancipation. The Aries principle is symbolized by the catalytic process and by acts of initiation and innovation. Our job during the sign of Aries is to spring into action in new and innovative ways, using our natural leadership and delegation skills to empower others to become involved in whatever we’re committed to. So save your "spring cleaning" for fall when you are going to be inside, and use the Aries energy to catalyze yourself and others into action.

March 28 Full moon in Libra The full moon in Libra represents our need for cooperative, balanced, and harmonious relationship with others. This is a great time to look at where we are on the continuum between independence and dependence. Somewhere in the middle, there is a new paradigm called interdependence, and that is what this full moon is offering us during the month. The moon in Libra calls us to balance our desire for intimate merging with others with acknowledgment of our own need for autonomy.

The challenge this month is to really acknowledge the vulnerability and fear of rejection or abandonment we may feel when we express our true needs to others. The full moon in Libra is asking us to communicate from a balanced center, where we consider both the needs of the other and ourselves equally.
