Look to see if you need outside help to support you in reorganizing, streamlining, or just cleaning up so that your energy can be freed to devote to your highest-priority goals. Take some time to revisit your core values this year as well. It is your core values that will provide the ground to stand on as you begin take action on what you want to manifest. With clarity of vision, strong intent and focus, and the true desire to succeed, the path of creative manifestation will open before you. All in all, it's an excellent year for expansion, particularly in the areas of career enhancement and fulfillment and the creative expression of our individual gifts. January 3 Mercury enters Aquarius Mercury moves through the sign of Aquarius from January 3 through February 2. With Mercury in Aquarius this month, the emphasis is on liberating (Uranus) the mind (Mercury). The Aquarian influence helps us to break free from any ways in which our thinking has become crystallized or stagnant. Use Mercury in Aquarius to help open your mind to new possibilities and insights. Be willing to act on any "illuminations" or intuitive insights that you might receive during this period. January 10-February 13 Saturn trines Neptune Saturn in Gemini is in flowing aspect to Neptune in Aquarius from January 10-February 13. Saturn/Neptune is about grounding (Saturn) one's ideals (Neptune). This is an excellent time to bring your vision down to earth by making a realistic assessment of where you are in relation to your dreams and ideals. Sometimes this can be sobering, particularly if the real and the ideal are far apart from each other. On the other hand, this is a great time to plan out what it will take to make your vision real. January 13 New moon in Capricorn For this next month, the emphasis is on creating emotional safety, groundedness, and security. The new moon in Capricorn calls us to reconnect with the earth element in our lives. The challenge this month is to tune in to our natural self-reliance. The new moon in Capricorn is asking us to take whatever steps are necessary so that we can be more fully in our bodies, secure in the knowledge that we are approaching life with a pragmatic and realistic focus. January 18 Mars enters Aries Mars passes through its own sign of Aries from January18 through March 1. If you have wanted to make changes in your life, use Mars in Aries to start making things happen. In other words, through the power of your will, affirm to others that you are committing to a course of action! Take a stand about what you intend to create in your life, and find others that will support and empower you in following through. Now is the time to deepen your level of commitment to implementing your goals. Let Mars in Aries be your ally, your greatest supporter and coach. January 18 Venus enters Aquarius Venus journeys through the sign of Aquarius from January 18 through February 12. With Venus in Aquarius, we have an opportunity to broaden or break open our personal value systems. Venus in Aquarius helps us to envision a new paradigm of relationship that is in sharp contrast to the codependent model we now have. Since Venus rules the heart chakra, with Venus in Aquarius we want to break free from traditional ways of sharing our heart energy. This could include more openness or experimentation in our relationship forms, wanting to be intimate (not necessarily sexual) with more than one person, desiring to expand our personal love to include expressing impersonal love for those in need of help, and experimentation with different forms of sexuality. Let Venus in Aquarius help you open your heart to greater intimacy and authenticity in all of your relationships. January 18-February 8 Mercury retrograde I dont know about you, but the last Mercury retrograde (November 1-22) seemed pretty intense to me. I ended up taking an unplanned vacation from my work, and at first it was a little disconcerting. After I surrendered to the situation, though, I accomplished a great deal of inner work, reading, and planning. Being an extrovert naturally, it seemed like I was being forced to take time off to focus within. During Mercury retrogrades, we are asked to shift our attention from the external reality to the internal reality. On the other hand, though, some clients with natal Mercury retrograde report that Mercury retrogrades are the times when they accomplish the most! This month Mercury goes retrograde at 14 degrees Aquarius on January 18, and will go direct again on February 8 at 28 degrees Capricorn. With Mercury retrograde in Aquarius, its time to awaken our minds to new possibilities that we may have never imagined before. This is a great time to pay attention to your intuition, particularly those flashes of inspiration that come to you like a lightning bolt. Mercury retrograde in Aquarius can signify great breakthroughs if we allow ourselves to be open to higher mind. January 20 Sun enters Aquarius The challenge of Aquarian energy is to blend the personal with the impersonal. The ruling planet of Aquarius is Uranus, and with that rule comes visionary, forward-thinking qualities. Aquarians want to be on the cutting edge of what is next for the planet. Unfortunately, though, they are often misunderstood, as they are usually far ahead of their times and often seen as quite eccentric. With the sun in Aquarius, we have the opportunity to heal our wounds around alienation or not fitting in. We also have the opportunity to serve the collective through sharing our original insights and visions of how the world can be transformed through positive and progressive change. January 23-26 Mars squares Chiron Mars in Aries will be in challenging aspect to Chiron in Capricorn January 23-26. The challenge here is to balance personal will (Mars) with collective will and authority (Chiron in Capricorn). It is time for the world to learn that direct conflict, authoritarian rule, and control are no longer effective strategies. By being willing to let go of resistance and force as methods of negotiation, we can actually accomplish a great deal more than we could before with less effort. Like the tai chi master who effortlessly throws an opponent using the opponent's own force, we can learn how to use our energy much more efficiently and humanely with this transit. January 24-26 Venus conjuncts Neptune Venus and Neptune in Aquarius are at the same degree for these two days. Venus represents the energy of the heart chakra and the expression of personal love. Neptune represents the intuitive energies of the third eye center and the expression of divine love. When the two are together in Aquarius, it represents an opportunity to tap into the source of unconditional love and forgiveness. Allow your heart to open so that you can practice unconditional acceptance of loved ones, friends, and yourself. January 27-29 Mars squares Jupiter Mars in Aries is in challenging aspect to Jupiter in Cancer from January 27-29. The square is a powerful aspect because it represents the potential integration of two planets energy in a synergistic way. Mars is the planet of will and Jupiter is the planet representing expansion. Mars/Jupiter asks us to tap into the archetype of the spiritual warrior, putting our will or power (Mars) behind our idealism or vision (Jupiter). The challenge is to not force our crusade, no matter how holy, on others! Use the energy of Mars opposite Jupiter to map out your strategy and game plan. Align your will with divine will, and you can be assured of success. January 28 Full moon in Leo With the full moon in Leo, you have an opportunity to bring to light your inner divine child. Take time to tap into the qualities of the divine child this month: spontaneity, authenticity, creativity, and fun. For many people who had to be responsible at an early age, these qualities may seem quite foreign. Learning how to express more of these qualities in your life this month, though, may be just the ticket for freeing up your creativity and your aliveness. January 28-31 Mars sextiles Saturn and Neptune Mars in Aries is in a positive relationship with Saturn in Gemini and Neptune in Aquarius January 28-31. Mars in Aries is in its own sign this month, so it is particularly strong and fiery. Mars/Saturn is a good time to get any of your unfinished business done. Mars/Saturn helps us concentrate our will so that we can be focused and disciplined. The combination of Mars, representing personal will and drive, with transcendent Neptune is a particularly interesting combination. Mars/Neptune asks us to transcend or surrender our will so that we can be guided by Spirit. In terms of world issues, it is a good indication of negotiated surrender. Personally, we are being asked by Mars/Saturn and Mars/Neptune to learn how to manifest strong will without attachment to the results. In other words, we are being challenged to let go of control (Saturn) of how we think things should turn out. At the same time, we are learning that surrender is not a passive action, but requires that we combine strong intent (Mars) with non-attachment (Neptune). We each have a calling or spiritual destiny that is essential to the whole, to the healing of the planet. As we step into full awareness of this truth, our lives, and the lives of those around us, will be completely transformed. Thank you, Deverick, David, and everyone at The New Times for following your calling! You are truly beacons of light and catalysts for the transformation of many lives.
